A research on the knowledge regarding legumes among adolescent girls
Author(s): Dr. Suheli Mehta
Abstract: Mainly this study of mine is about knowledge regarding legumes among adolescent girls. Legumes are plants in the family Fabaceae (or Leguminosae), or the fruit or seeds of such plants. When used as a dry grain for human consumption, the seeds are also called pulses. Legumes are grown agriculturally, primarily for human consumption; for livestock forage and silage; and as soil-enhancing green manure. Well-known legumes include beans, chickpeas, peanuts, lentils, lupins, mesquite, carob, tamarind, alfalfa, and clover. Legumes produce a botanically unique type of fruit - a simple dry fruit that develops from a simple carpel and usually dehisces (opens along a seam) on two sides. I have conducted this study among the girl students of Magadh Mahila College campus because only the girl students will take care of our house as housewives, hence by increasing the knowledge about legumes among the girl students, the knowledge and consumption of high quality grains like legumes among the people of our country can be increased by the girl students.
