Abstract: Vitamin D deficiency is a major global health concern, not only limited to bone diseases but also associated with many other systemic diseases outside the skeletal system. As majority Indian population is Lacto-vegetarian, this study started with the aim of correction in vitamin D deficiency by intervention of d2 rich foods that is vegetarian source of vitamin D. Interventional study with Clinical Trial performed at ‘Vishwaraj Hospital’ Pune, Maharashtra, from May 2022 to December 2022 to correct vitamin d deficiency by D2 rich foods. Ethical approval taken from Institutional Ethics Committee and Registration done under Clinical Trial Registry of India (CTRI/2022/05/042532), All 103 enrolled vitamin d deficiency patients asked to follow vitamin d2 rich diet chart for three months after taking written consent. During intervention, telephonic follow up had taken every 15th day till 90 days, to confirm whether patients followed recommended diet chart. After 90 days of intervention, serum vitamin d level repeated to compare their previous vitamin d level which was done before intervention. After 3 months of intervention, 78.6% participants had normal vitamin d level, 15.3% participants had insufficient values and only 6.1% participants had deficiency. Statistical analysis done by the Paired t Test which compares the means of two measurements of serum vit d level taken from the same individual i.e. paired observations. This study concluded that vitamin D2 rich foods with ghee increase the serum level of total vitamin D.
