Abstract: Fast food culture is an emerging trend among the younger generation. The ready availability, taste, low cost, marketing strategies and peer pressure make them popular with children and adolescents. Fast food is described as food that is prepared for immediate consumption. It\'s common to use the terms fast food and junk food interchangeably. Most fast foods are junk foods because they are cooked and delivered quickly, but not all fast foods are, especially when they are made with healthful ingredients. Outside-the-home eating is increasingly a substantial and common part of life. Additionally, eating habits vary from society to society. Urbanization and globalization have had a significant impact on people\'s eating patterns, forcing many people to eat trendy, high-calorie fast food, also described as \"junk food”. Many studies have discovered that fast food products, with their high levels of saturated fats and trans fatty acids, poor nutritional value, and excessive salt content, are linked to the prevalence of hypercholesterolemia, hypertension, type II diabetes mellitus, obesity, and cardiovascular disease in Westernized societies. The current review discusses the link between eating certain foods and positive health outcomes.
