Author(s): Sinjini Roychoudhury, Alka Gupta and Ishani Ganguly

Abstract: The consumption of coffee has always been an issue of concern with debates revolving around its impact on the heart\'s wellbeing. Investigation of new evidence brings to light the fact that there seems to be a ‘sweet spot’ coffee dietary pattern, where an intake at the right amount may offer protection however, more than that intake brings about risks. Some of the bioactive compounds, such as polyphenols and caffeine which are constituents of coffee are known to make an impact in regards to blood pressure, inflammation and even cholesterol, factors that all affect the heart. This survey studies the varying effects of coffee bioactive compounds on cardiovascular diseases while factoring in genetics, lifestyle, and coffee style. The aim is to ensure that consumers and healthcare practitioners do not have the undue influence of biased information when making nutrition oriented decisions.
