Implementation of nutritional interventions and challenges

Abstract: Health is an important aspect of life. To protect the body from various diseases, diet is very important. Diet contains various food items. Different foods contain different types of chemicals such as carbohydrates, proteins and vitamins, they are called nutrients. The food which is taken by humans and how it affects the health is termed as nutrition. Nutrition is very important for good health which protects the body from diseases. Any alteration in this process leads to bad health conditions, which is called malnutrition. It is a condition in which enough food is not taken according to the age and weight or the food which is taken does not have any nutritional value. It will not be helpful in maintaining body health. To solve these problems related to malnutrition, the government has launched various nutritional intervention programs at national as well as state level. Nutritional intervention is the process in which the nutrients are given to the people by providing them with food supplements according to the problems they have and their age group. It is also intended to change or improve nutrition related behavior of people or communities. It mainly focused on the root cause of nutrition related problems and the way to overcome it. It has two levels such as planning and implementation. But, there are various challenges at administration level due to various reasons such as lack of awareness on nutrition, poverty and negative beliefs etc. This study shows various aspects of nutritional interventions, its importance, challenges and future trends by taking a village as a case study.
